Great teams aren’t an accident. They’re built with purpose every single day.
It’s not just talent.
It’s the standards, behaviors, and values you live out daily:
What you allow
What you emphasize
What you model
That’s your edge.
As Urban Meyer once said:
“Average leaders have quotes. Good leaders have a plan. Exceptional leaders have a system.”
So what does this look like in a winning program?

1. Clear Standards, Consistently Enforced
Everyone knows what’s expected: effort, attitude, and behavior.
And everyone gets held to the same standard, no matter their role.
2. Selfless Leadership
In strong cultures, leaders show up to serve, not to be seen.
Titles don’t matter.
Actions do.
3. Relentless Work Ethic
Championship teams don’t take days off from effort.
Hard work is the norm, not the exception.
4. Resilience in Tough Moments
Setbacks don’t break them.
They adapt, respond, and grow.
Adversity becomes fuel.
5. Real Connection + Trust
They care deeply.
They believe fully.
And they hold each other accountable, because they want to win together.
