💭 ONE THOUGHT
Mindset Matters.
What is Mindset?
Mindset can be defined as the attitudes, beliefs, and assumptions that guide an athlete’s training and performance.
Winning mindsets include having a positive attitude, showing resilience, being persistent, growth-based, and having gratitude, to name a few.
As important as it is to have a winning mindset, it may be even more critical to avoid “losing” mindsets. Losing mindsets hold individuals and teams back from achieving their full potential.
I have written a lot about mindsets on Twitter. Here is one such post:
8 “LIES” we tell ourselves that Lead to a Losing Mindset:
1. “They just got lucky”
2. “I don’t have time”
3. “Someone else will do it”
4. “I will do it tomorrow”
5. “This is just who I am”
6. “I will do it in the game”
7. “It wasn’t my fault”
8. “The refs were bad”What else?

Winners REJECT these Losing Mindsets.
What are these losing mindsets that winners reject?
Here are 8 of them.
1: JEALOUSY
Comparison is the thief of JOY!
Do not compare yourself to others. Winners avoid comparison.
The ultimate competitor you have in your life is yourself. Once you have mastered the competition of self, you will live a much happier life.
2: NEGATIVITY
Energy is contagious. Positive & Negative.
You can control your energy & attitude each and every day.
If you live with negative energy, it will infiltrate all areas of your life.
The healthiest & happiest people are energy givers. Their attitude & energy allow them to overcome any obstacle.
Winners drown out the negative energy in their life. They do not hang out with negative people. They avoid them like the plague. They “Neutralize Negativity.”
Team LEADERS:
Do NOT fall victim to the “Narrative of Negativity”.
▪️ Choose Positivity
▪️ Build others Up
▪️ Have a Growth Mindset
▪️ Be a Competitor
▪️ Have a “Next Play” MentalityBe the “Hope” your team needs. “Make the Play” your team needs. Be a LEADER.

3: ENTITLEMENT
Develop an "Everything is Earned" mindset in life.
No one is entitled to anything.
When you have a mindset of working for what you get, you gain a sense of control over your circumstances.
You learn to appreciate what you have. You learn Gratitude. You learn that you have control over your life and your choices.
4: BLAME
Whenever you Blame, you give up control.
Never let anyone else determine the outcome of what you can control. When you blame, the focus becomes external. Blame lets others into your mind. It dirties your mind and your thought process. It points the finger elsewhere.
Ghandi said it best.
"I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet."
Control YOU. It is all you can control. Do not point the finger at others. It is a bad habit that will affect you for the rest of your life.
Accept responsibility and avoid blame.
5: COMPLAINING
When you complain, you bring negative energy.
The negative energy feeds your brain.
It impacts others. It is contagious.
If you have a complaint, bring a solution. This is a positive approach to dealing with a problem.
6: OVERANALYZING
Just Do It!
You can always find reasons NOT to do something.
This is what over-analyzing does. It allows you to talk yourself out of what you should do. You will be much happier when you choose to take the first step. If not, you are constantly second-guessing what you could have done.
The hardest step in any endeavor is always the first step. Choose to COMMIT.
Do not over-analyze.
7: PEOPLE PLEASING
You will NEVER please everyone. NEVER. Learn this early in life.
It is impossible to please others. So don’t try to.
When you live this way, you are constantly let down. This will impact your mental health.
Focus on YOU. Be the best version of YOU.
If you focus on making yourself happy and the best version of yourself, you will find you have more time to influence and impact others.
It is contrarian to think of but focus on making “you” better first. Then you will make others better in an exponential manner!
Focus on YOU first.
8: SELF-DOUBT/CRITICISM
Be kind to yourself.
Just because you have a negative thought does not mean you must believe it.
This is the "SECRET" of life.
Learn to talk to yourself instead of listening to yourself during these moments.
Positive self-talk does wonders!
SUMMARY:
Winners reject losing mindsets. They do not let these losing mindsets run wild in their head. They are constantly working to “master their mind.” They avoid these 8 losing mindsets:

Negativity
Entitlement
