Letโs dive inโฆ
๐ญ ONE THOUGHT
Playmakers, Not Playwaiters

Every great team has one.
That player who doesnโt wait for the game to come to them.
They create the game.
They dive for loose balls.
They make the extra pass.
They shift momentum without needing the spotlight.
They do the little things that lead to big wins.
Theyโre a โplaymaker.โ
Playmakers change games.
Not always with points or stats, but with presence, effort, and impact.
Theyโre ready before the play happens.
They lift others.
They lead in moments when everyone else hesitates.
Use This With Your Team:
Ask them this simple question:
๐ โAre you a playmakerโฆ or a play-waiter?โ
Then talk about the difference:
Playmakers take initiative.
Play-waiters hope someone else will step up.
Discuss what playmakers do on your team.
Who brings energy when itโs flat?
Who makes hustle contagious?
Who leads without being asked?
Let your players identify it. Let them own it.
Practical Ways to Be a Playmaker:
See a teammate down? Say something.
Game getting tight? Bring confidence.
Practice getting sloppy? Raise the standard.
Offense out of sync? Move without the ball.
Film not assigned? Watch it anyway.
Playmakers donโt wait for a coach to tell them.
They see whatโs needed, and they do it.
The Bigger Lesson:
Playmakers donโt just help teams win games.
They become leaders in life.
At home.
At work.
In their relationships.
Because in life, just like in sportsโฆ
Some wait for direction.
Others create direction.
And it makes all the difference in the world.

Take This to Your Team:
Have your players write down this question:
โWhere can I be a playmaker this week?โ
In practice.
In the classroom.
In the locker room.
At home.
Follow up. Keep it simple.
Keep the spotlight on effort, initiative, and impact.
Final Thought:
Talent matters. But itโs not everything.
What does every team need more of?
Playmakers.
On the field. And in life.
Letโs build them.
See you next Thursday,
Greg
