💭 ONE THOUGHT
The Eagle and the Crow
What is the only bird that dares peck at an Eagle?
The crow.
It will sit on the Eagle's back and bite its neck.
However, the eagle doesn't fight back. Instead, it opens its wings and flies higher. The higher the eagle flies, the harder it is for the crow to breathe.
Eventually, the crow falls from exhaustion.
What a great lesson for us as coaches and leaders to remember and follow.
As leaders and coaches, we often have a spotlight on us. We are in “The Arena.”
It is part of the responsibility we have as leaders.
We are the Eagles.
Unfortunately, there are many crows in this world. They are in the background, pecking at every little thing they can. They are weak-minded. They are not in the arena.
The most important thing for us as leaders and coaches is how we respond to the crows.
It can make or break us.
My challenge to us as coaches is to take the high road. Be the Eagle and hang with other Eagles.
Pull the crows to a higher altitude. Take away their oxygen.
Make them fail.
And always always remember, you will never please everyone.
So trust yourself, and do your best.
Good Luck!
Coaches, you will never please everyone.
So don’t try.
Just do the very best you can do and trust that this will be enough.
Have confidence in your own commitment and your own character.
Trust yourself.

𝐗 THREE POSTS FROM OTHERS
COACHES: Every single day you have to fight for the culture that you want. You have to compete for the hearts and minds of your players. You have to intentionally inspire those that you lead. It's not always easy but it will always be worth the effort.

I’ve always believed that if something is important enough to you - you find a way. If it’s not - you find an excuse.
@sfu_athletics - how you respond to tough situations always reveals your real priorities. My heart breaks for all those athletes there that deserve better.— Angus Reid (@angusreid64)
