💭 ONE THOUGHT
🏆 Choices and the Domino Effect
Life is about choices.
And every choice we make sets off a chain reaction that leads us to other opportunities or challenges.
For this reason, the choices we make are critical.
This is one reason I believe that “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
Here are five critical choices we all make:
Mindset - Do we choose a positive, growth-oriented mindset, or do we choose a negative mindset?
Training and Preparation - Do we put in the time needed to train and be prepared?
Nutrition - Do we choose to eat healthy and best prepare our bodies?
Our “Huddle” - Who do we surround ourselves with? The people we surround ourselves with determine our destiny.
Approach to Failure - How do we respond to failure? Do we have a growth-based approach to our setbacks and adversity?
Good choices put us in a position to be “lucky.” We are in control. We create our own luck.
As a coach, here is one example of how our choice to better train and prepare can lead to more success…
Coaches → Do you purposely build and develop your Team Leaders?
Or do you “hope” and “wish” for leaders each year?
This is a critical question to ask yourself as a coach. Why?
Because Player-Led Teams Win.
All too often, coaches do not systemize how they develop their leaders. They are not purposeful. They simply wait for that season when great leadership shows up, and then they ride the wave.
The very best coaches are purposeful in building their culture and developing their team leaders.
This is exactly why I created the Team Leader OS.
To create a system that trains and prepares a Team Leader “Domino Effect” for our teams.
If coaches purposely develop culture and put in systems to develop team leaders, you open the door for more POSITIVE things to happen to you and your team.
Athletes also create a domino effect with every choice they make.
Many times, these choices are hard. This is how the most elite athletes separate themselves.
Consider Kobe…
Kobe GOLD 🥇
Choices.
“Greatness isn’t easy to achieve. It requires a lot of time and a lot of sacrifices. It requires a lot of tough choices. It requires your loved ones to sacrifice, too, so you have to have an understanding circle of family and friends.“

Great players like Kobe are wired differently. They have elite daily habits.
During the early 2000s, Kobe Bryant's training routine became legendary. He embraced a routine of waking up at 4:00 or 5:00 a.m. to begin his workout. This routine allowed him to maximize his day and create a competitive edge.
Kobe’s choice to work out before 5:00 a.m. created a domino effect that helped him become one of the most elite players ever.
Another example of the domino effect in action is when athletes choose to prioritize their health and well-being.
Making healthy choices like eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly can lead to better physical and mental health, which can, in turn, lead to improved performance on the field.
On the other hand, neglecting your health and well-being can have the opposite effect.
Poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and insufficient exercise can decrease physical and mental health, ultimately impacting your performance and success.
Every choice you make can have consequences that ripple throughout your life and the lives of those around you.
Consider the potential consequences of your decisions and choose wisely. Take the time to evaluate your options, weigh the potential outcomes, and make choices that align with your goals and values.
By recognizing the domino effect and making wise choices, you can take control of your future and achieve your goals.
Good Luck!

Life is hard & it rarely gets easier. Don’t make it harder on yourself by always living inside your head. Stop overthinking, judging, analyzing every little thing. Get out of your head & lean into the moments that matter. Trust your instincts & everything else falls into place!

Playing Hard is a learned skill. What does Playing Hard look like for you. My vision of playing hard is different than yours, & all players “think” they play hard. Watching film is a great teacher. You don’t play hard in practice, we run. You don’t play hard in the game, you sit. http
