💭 ONE THOUGHT
One of my favorite stories, which I share with my team, is the story of the Lion and the Gazelle.
It is one of the many motivational stories in the Motivation Playbook for Coaches.
This vivid image captures the essence of effort, preparation, and survival.
In sports and in life, the competition never stops. If you’re not improving, someone else is. If you’re not running, someone will catch you.
The Lesson for Coaches
Coaching is about more than preparing your athletes to succeed on game day; it’s about instilling the mindset that effort isn’t optional.
No Deposit - No Return.
Success doesn’t take a day off, and neither should the habits that lead to it.
Whether you’re the lion chasing greatness or the gazelle striving to stay ahead, the key is consistent, daily effort.
This mindset applies beyond athletics.
It’s about how we approach our roles as leaders, teammates, and individuals striving for growth.
Every day, the “rent is due,” and it’s paid with hard work, focus, and resilience.
Three Ways to Apply This with Your Team
Establish a “Rent is Due” Mindset:
Encourage your athletes to approach every practice, workout, and game as an opportunity to improve. Remind them that effort today impacts success tomorrow.Create Daily Accountability:
Use progress charts, goal-setting exercises, or daily check-ins to track consistent effort. Celebrate athletes who show up ready to “run” each day.Model It as a Coach:
Lead by example. Show your athletes what it looks like to consistently give maximum effort. Share stories of individuals who achieved greatness through daily commitment.
A Final Thought
The lion and the gazelle remind us that the stakes are high every day.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re chasing a championship or maintaining a high standard of excellence—when the sun comes up, you’d better be ready to run.
How are you preparing your team to “run” every day?
Are your coaching habits modeling consistent effort and focus?
Remember, rent is due, and greatness waits for no one.
Good Luck!
Greg

📜 TWO QUOTES
“Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe.”
“I can only control my performance. If I do my best, then I can feel good at the end of the day”
𝐗 THREE POSTS FROM OTHERS
"It's called changing a limit. Parents today don't allow their kids to change their limits. They're worried about them failing instead of learning. But you learn through the experience of failure & success"

This great message was sent to me by a friend.
Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.
Sometimes we spend so much time and energy thinking about where we want to go that we don't… x.com/i/web/status/1…
