Water The Grass
βThe grass is the greenest where you water it the most!β - Author unknown
We live in a world where it is easy to try and compare ourselves, our situation, our school, our team, or our community to something or someone else.
It is easy for all of us: Teachers, Coaches, Leaders, Athletes, or anyone for that matter, to think that it is "BETTER" at another school, another team, another community, another home, another situation.
When we focus on what we do not have, or when we focus on what we "think" others have, we create a Negative Mindset π Negative Energy π Negative Focus.
The fact of the matter is, that our attitude most often determines our happiness. If we feed the mindset that our life could be better somewhere else, it will be. It always will be.
I see this so much in my role as a Principal and Coach. I am in constant contact with all sorts of people.
Whether it be parents, students, teachers, athletes, or anyone, the mindset they have determines their happiness
However, if we feed the mindset that the "grass is greenest where we water it the most", then we take control over our surroundings, our experience, our situation, and our life.
We control our happiness.
Starving Baker
This concept reminds me of the story of the starving baker"
A baker opened up a new bagel shop that became very popular in a very short time. Every morning the baker would get up in the early morning hours to get his bagels ready for the day. This continued for weeks and months. As the baker kept working these crazy hours to bake for others, he became so focused on making others happy, that he forgot to eat himself.
He was starving himself.
He became a starving baker.
Don't be a starving baker.
Feed yourself.
Water your own grass.
You will be much better for those who rely on you.

Be the player that lifts his teammates up and not the player that screams at them and tears them down! GOOD TEAMMATES ARE VALUED!" β twitter.com
